Logan’s Uncle Mike and Aunt Lynn live in Tampa, Florida. It’s quite common for the Workman’s to take an annual trip down to Tampa to visit the extended family in July. Logan and I were living in Texas in July 2022 and planned to meet the Workman crew in Tampa for the annual trip. My dad, Craig, was also living in the area and planned to meet up with us while we were there too. Since the family was going to be all together, someone suggested that we take family photos. Cristy sent out instructions on color schemes (I was to wear white) and suggested I get my nails done. Looking back, this all seems very suspicious! But at the time, getting engaged was not on my radar. The morning of the photo shoot was a bit stressful, to say the least. If anyone knows me, you know that I despise being late to scheduled events and we were running very late. In my frazzled state I kept asking Logan if he had communicated with the photographer to let them know our new ETA. Each time I asked, he would gruffly reply, “don’t worry…I’ve got this!” It didn’t seem like Logan had this. I say this because Logan is typically a rock - a solid foundation that rarely gets shaken up by things like running late. The fact that he seemed so on edge made everything seem so much more frantic. We finally piled the family into the car and headed to the beach. As soon as the car parked, Logan hopped out and grabbed my hand. He insisted that it was a great time to take a stroll along the beach. Which felt really off to me, since we were running late, there was no photographer in sight and his family was still exiting the vehicle. We got to a serene part of the beach and Logan stopped, staring out at the ocean. He kept telling me to look at the dolphins - which there were definitely zero of. A pelican swooped down towards the water and he pointed to it, telling me to look. I did, and when I glanced back, Logan was on bended knee holding out a little box with a beautiful ring in it. Before he could say anything, I exclaimed, “YES!” My answer was, and is still, yes.
