We met at Webb School of Knoxville, where both of our youngest boys were students. For a while, Roderick and I would just exchange polite hellos in passing. One evening, I met up with my cousin and one of Roderick's former teammates. During the conversation, his teammate asked me for Roderick’s phone number. Not wanting to give it out without asking first, I decided to text Roderick to check in. He didn’t respond right away, but the next day, I got a message back— He said, “I’d rather take you out on a date.” I was surprised, but I said yes (not knowing what I was getting myself into!). When he asked where I wanted to go, I honestly wasn’t in the mood to go out, so I said, “Why don’t we just stay in, watch some Redbox movies, and order a pizza?” He agreed—and that was the beginning. Nearly 8 years later, here we are… getting married!
