We are so excited to celebrate our big day with you and create memories that will last a lifetime. Many people have asked why we chose Spain for our wedding. And while “Because Spain is the best!” is already a perfectly acceptable answer, there are a few meaningful reasons. Yes, Rod has family in Spain and it will be easier for them to join us—but Spain also played an unexpected role at the very beginning of our story. We started talking just a few weeks before Yeyi left for her study-abroad trip to Seville. Rod was adamant about taking her out before she left, but Yeyi was in full packing-and-planning mode and insisted she had no time for a date with this boy she barely knew. Still, he kept texting her throughout her trip. Little did she know that he had visited Spain many times and had plenty of tips, stories, and recommendations to share. As she explored the country, he followed along from afar, and their conversations never stopped. When she returned home, her best friend planned a surprise welcome-back dinner with all their friends… but the biggest surprise of the night was that the boy she had been texting for weeks was there too—waiting to see her again and finally ask her out on their first official date. And the rest is history. We’ve been together since 2018, and when we started talking about marriage, we dreamed of choosing a place that—although it kept us apart at the start—somehow brought us together. Spain feels like the perfect beginning to this next chapter, and we couldn’t be happier to share it with all of you.
