How They Met

Scooter went to a bar. He met a girl. They went on date. When they were texting a few days later, she said, “This was nice, but I think you would get along way better with my roommate. Here’s her name and number.” Her name was Ellen, but her friends called her Rocky. She was hesitant to be set up and almost bailed, but eventually decided to meet Scooter at Sardine Bar before going soul dancing. They had a few beers together and talked. Rocky even flicked him off, but neither remembers why. Rocky was having such a good time she invited him to go dancing. Since that night, they’ve been inseparable.

The Ring

Rocky used to be a professional jeweler and Scooter doesn’t know anything about jewelry. So, not for the last time, he asked Rocky to tell him what to do. Rocky’s mom had given them her old diamond ring (minus the diamond). Rocky took Scooter to Henri David, a fantastic jeweler in Philadelphia she used to work for. Henri found them a beautiful light blue sapphire to be the main stone. Rocky worked with Henri and redesigned her mom’s ring for herself.

The Proposal

Rocky didn’t know when or how the proposal would come, but she knew it was coming. One Friday night, they had plans to go out for dinner with friends. They went to the Sardine Bar, the place where they had their first date. They sat down outside next to each other. Scooter asked her to move over, but Rocky stayed put because she didn’t understand why he was asking. As they waited for their friends, Scooter kept talking about their first date. Scooter finally turned to Rocky and said, “Can you move over so I can propose to you?” Rocky finally moved and Scooter got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes! Then he took her upstairs, where their families and friends were waiting for an engagement party!! The proposal might not have been a surprise, but the party was. They talked and drank with everyone late into the night.
