She was a stand up comedian girl, he was an improv guy...

2.3.2024

Emily was a stand up comedian trying to branch out into other comedy styles, Jonathan was an improv teacher and part of the improv troupe. Emily ended up being a last-minute addition to Renegade Improv's "Remix" show, where three stand up comedians did a short set for Jon's group to run with for an improv scene. Emily had heard of Jonathan, even thought he was pretty cool, but had never met him. Jonathan had heard of Emily, thought she was also pretty cool (obviously), but besides a show at Hoops Brewing years prior that only one of them remember briefly interacting at, they had not met. Jonathan asked Emily to be in another show he was producing at Renegade, and - for the first of many times - Emily said yes! She went to his house with the others in the show to film some promo content, and forgot her emotional support water bottle. Jonathan, being the gentleman he is, ran it out to her car before she sped off to do open mic at Dubh Linns. The next day, a newly single Emily opened Tinder and noticed that she had a new match. Her improv teacher, and comedy collaborator, Jonathan! His first message to her requested a brunch date. Their first date actually ended up being a walk on the beach at Wisconsin Point, followed by a round of darts and Coors Light at Builder's Boardroom in Superior. After that day, they became practically inseparable and remain that way to this day. In September, they moved into their first home together, along with his dog and her son. They've since collaborated on multiple other shows, supported each other at countless shows they were not in together, and grew their lives together. In January of 2026, Jonathan finally succeeded in whisking Emily away to Puerto Vallarta, where they got engaged after finding a ring at The Opal Mine in Zona Romantica (fitting, right?). Though they forgot their lava cake in the resort fridge (RIP), they did get to enjoy celebratory chocolate covered strawberries and champagne while they both excitedly called, texted, or facetimed everyone that they wanted to share the news with. Today, they are excited to welcome you to the next step in their journey, where they will commit their lives to each other and Aspen. They hope you enjoy reading their story and hope to see you at the wedding!
