We both knew that serving the Lord was one of our greatest callings in life, and finding someone who is equally as passionate about Jesus was a deep desire. Caleb moved across country all the way from California to Georgia for ministry school. It was at a youth retreat that we were serving at that Caleb noticed me washing tables after lunch. All while Vanessa noticed him ministering to a student on his free time. That following week Caleb reached out , and the rest is history.
Caleb and I from the first moment we started dating discussed the importance of boundaries. Boundaries were there to protect us, not limit us. If we believe in 1 Corinthians 13 then we believe that love is patient. After 8 months of dating and 6 months of being "Official" Caleb professed his love to me while enjoying the Christmas lights in downtown Auburn, GA. After such a beautiful and romantic moment, he walked me over to the gazebo and he looked up and there was mistletoe, so we shared our first kiss and slow danced. It was in that moment I knew our love was forever going to be better than any Hallmark movie to ever be produced.
Her Side: It was the first day in a long time that I would get to have a fun girls day! Caleb told me he had to go to a meeting that afternoon so I was not expecting to see him that Sunday. Ruthie & Meghan picked me up and we went and did our favorite thing... Yes that means lunch, Target and Starbucks. After a few hours of laughing, shopping and sipping on our coffee's, it was brought up that we don't have many good pictures of the three of us. Meghan had convinced us that she had become the BEST self timer photographer. SO- Ruthie then asked me, (knowing where I would suggest to go) where the best photo op would be & I SAID DOWN TOWN AUBURN. Little did I know that that is where I would see the man I have prayed for my whole life with all of my friends and family to witness him getting on one knee under that gazebo. His Side: I was kind of a nervous wreck on the inside. I wanted everything to be absolutely perfect and I wanted this to be a moment that she would remember for the rest of our lives. I put so much pressure on myself that I really felt paralyzed by the planning. I had the ring for almost 2 months before I proposed. I finally had a conversation with a friend that told me that I should do it at a place that we'd both be able to come back to and it be special to us. The Gazebo it is. I got Ruthie and Meghan to ask Vanessa to hang out for that afternoon and I created a fake meeting that I would have to attend so that way I wouldn't be a part of the picture for the day. Vanessa loves her friends and family so I invited as many of them as I could. The day came and Jimmy and I set up the gazebo, I wanted it to be as perfect as possible. Everyone arrived and we waited for the love of my life to come and be shocked. She had no idea and looked so beautiful as she made her way to me in the gazebo surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was a true hallmark moment that can't be forgotten.
