The story of how we met is certainly an interesting tale. If you were to ask us separately, we would have entirely different recollections of our "meet cute" considering I couldn't remember meeting Erika the first four times I introduced myself. To set the context, that time of year is special for most Hampden-Sydney men because the biggest event of the year, Greek Week, is coming. It is a time for a week's worth of standard college level debauchery, and I was certainly participating. Erika and I met at my fraternity house at Hampden-Sydney College in April of 2014. Fortunately, Erika and I had a mutual friend, Stephanie, who enjoyed coming to our fraternity house and bringing friends along. Man am I happy that Erika tagged along enough times for me to get my crap together. As Erika will tell you, I was very consistent. Apparently, I would always introduce myself and ask where she was from, and she would always play along in telling me she is from Waldorf, MD. At this point, I would without fail get extremely excited explaining that my family used to live in Waldorf. After the first few times, Erika would say "Yea I know, you told me that when we met the last time." Evidently consistency and persistence pays off. The night I finally remembered meeting Erika, we enjoyed adult beverages and danced to the live music across campus the entire night. We finished the evening in the bunker of my fraternity house dancing to music so loud that made it impossible to hear each other speak. Erika was crazy enough to continuously run and jump as I caught her mid-air and we spun in circles laughing so hard it felt like my stomach would never un-clench. Perhaps it was a mixture of the laughing and the butterflies (and maybe the Busch Light), but I remember thinking that I never wanted that feeling to go away. Fortunately, Greek Week was finally upon us, and Erika and I spent every minute together that we weren't in class, and we haven't stopped ever since.
