Clayton’s short and sweet version

Chris Daughtry once said, “You never know when your going to meet someone and your whole wide world in a moment comes undone”. That was definitely me. I was just an everyday average guy, until Rocio came along. She changed all of that for me. Life is funny at times. One moment you're just friends with someone, and then end up being a lot more. Sometimes it just takes time and the right moment to truly see someone for who they are. Rocio and I were just friends in our 20’s. Needless to say, I saw her in different light in our lower thirties. She was super pretty and fun to be around. I decided she was worth pursuing. We ended up taking our relationship to the next level. I used my guitar to win the girl, and a friend became a fiancé. Since our engagement God has deepened our relationship with each other and given us purpose. I’m excited for what is to come on May 8th, and beyond. -Clayton

Life comes back around

More than acquaintances

I met Clayton in a college young adult group in my early 20s. It was led by mutual friends, who actually ended up getting married! I knew Clayton as this cute, funny guy who would've been nice to get to know better, but I didn’t think he even knew I existed. Jk, he was actually one of the few people that I kept in touch with over the years. He moved to Nebraska for a job, and I didn’t hear from him for a while. January 2020, two months before the crazy stuff happened, we both ended up being at the Winter Jam concert. I was looking for my friend, and I saw him! I was like, “Clayton? Hey! I thought you were in Nebraska?” He said he was back living in KC again. Something must’ve sparked in that moment 'cause he started reaching out over the next few months. We went on a bike ride, and talked about some deep stuff, it was nice to have an understanding with each other about it. By the third Friday, I asked him a question, “As far as I’m concerned, I’m just hanging out with my friend Clayton, how do you see it?” And he said, “Oh, I’m trying to pursue you.” I actually told him I was good being single at that point, but was open to getting to know him better. He asked me to his friend’s wedding, and the rest is history. I decided I liked him back and we officially started dating on July 18, 2020. My favorite date was our thrift store date, which was his idea! I got an outfit for him with bright colors and palm trees. He thought he picked out a crazy one for me, but it ended up backfiring because everyone was literally complimenting me the whole night and asking him if he had lost a bet! 😂. He asked me, “Is this really not embarrassing for you?” I told him, “Heck no, I love this kind of stuff!” It actually reminded me a lot of my aunt and uncle, they do fun stuff like that. After that, I decided I wanted to keep this guy around for sure! I think we are a good match, We have already learned a lot from each other and I’m excited for what the future holds for us! - Rocío
