Roci and Kurt met two years before they actually started dating. He was the boy next door. At the time, Roci worked at Papa Murphy's and Kurt worked next door at the UPS store. One night, Roci was walking out the back door when she noticed Kurt was a little frazzled... and cute. Apparently, Kurt was closing up, but he locked himself out of the store, therefore leaving his car keys in the store, and his phone was dead. Luckily, Roci was to the rescue and let him inside her store and he borrowed her phone. Since that day, it was nothing but Roci secretly admiring Kurt and failing several times to strike up a conversation because she didn't have the guts. Fast forward to December 2017, Kurt came into Papa Murphy's. This was Roci's shot! They had a conversation the entire time he was in the store, when he left he said, "See you around!" Those three words excited Roci and she knew she had to figure out a way for him to come in again sooner. What did she do? She used the holiday season as an excuse to place a Papa Murphy's gift card on his car windshield. It took Kurt two months to figure out who the card was from (and also for them to actually work at the same time). Finally in March 2018, he came in, used the card and asked Roci out. The rest is history.
Kurt proposed on their one and a half year anniversary, which was on labor day. They planned to hang out the entire day, but Kurt had an important staff meeting that morning. No biggie, they would just hang out later that day. Late afternoon, Kurt picked Roci up and they headed to a plant store in Fountain Square and bought four succulents/plants. Unfortunately, only one is still alive. Kurt had also reserved a table at Maggiano's Little Italy, they both love their pasta. They sat outside next to a water fountain, enjoying the cool breeze. The waitresses were incredibly nice to them, smiling anytime they passed by. Roci did not think anything of it, but Kurt knew why. He had gone to scout the place out days before, mentioning he may propose there, but afterwards he decided Roci would probably enjoy something much more intimate. After being completely stuffed, Roci mentioned she wanted to go to Kurt's house to watch a movie, because anything else would be completely draining. Kurt said, "Are you sure?" Roci said yes. Kurt used that moment before leaving to go use the restroom, when in reality he called his mom saying they were on the way. Once home, everything was normal, they headed upstairs like usual, but then once upstairs... Roci noticed light around the sides of Kurt's curtain opening into his studio-like room. Before she even processed anything, Kurt opened up the curtain and tea-light candles were lit everywhere, as well as white lights all over his room. Roci was overwhelmed, she started tearing up because it was so beautiful and romantic. Kurt told Roci to have a seat, and he pulled out a ukulele and his violin. He played the ukulele first as he was singing a song he wrote, suddenly, he transitioned to the violin. Roci still didn't have any clue until Kurt was done. He started saying, he had been lying to her about things he's been doing, he didn't actually have a staff meeting that morning, he was getting everything prepped, and so forth. He got down on one knee...
After graduating high school, Roci became interested in acting, so much that she took acting courses and has now done several plays and films. Her passion for acting is so strong that it even crossed her mind that she would move to L.A. and live out of her 1998 Toyota Camry after graduating college. All to pursue her dreams! She started dating Kurt her sophomore year of college, to which she was actually very weary of doing. She didn't know if it was the right thing to do, because of her ambition. However, once getting to know Kurt better and expressing her thoughts to him, Kurt realized that he also had a spark for acting. He had done a few childhood films with his siblings and friends, as well as a play when he was in high school, but never took it under serious consideration, until Roci came along. At first they talked about how cool it would be to be in a play or film together, which seemed far-fetched because their relationship was still at a fresh stage (no pun intended). Fast forward... they have auditioned for several projects together, been in a play together as well as a few films. Later on in their relationship, they joked about living in a van and exploring the country, while auditioning. It seemed like a dream. Somehow both Kurt and Roci came across Van Life pages on Instagram and Facebook groups, and were surprised to see how many people actually live in a van. It was inspiring! They bought their own van last December, and are renovating it to make it the cutest, little home. They plan on finding acting gigs while living in the van to expand their resume and experience. Kurt also has his own tiny art gallery he will be taking on the road. The idea of getting married and immediately settling down has never appealed to either of them. They are both still young and want to make the best of their life together as a young, married couple. Young, wild, and free.
