Gateway Pool & Hot Tubs
If relaxation and soaking are your goals, lounging by the pool is the perfect option for you. Gateway’s gorgeous, cylindrical Palisade Pools are open year round. Swim in the free-form Kiva Pool or soothe your loins after a long hike in our hot tubs, with gorgeous views of the Gateway canyons.
Shooting Stars
The Perseids are one of the most popular meteor showers of the year. We could be seeing 100 shooting stars an hour during the peak moments. More below... When: July 14 to August 24 Peak: Aug. 11-12 Comet of origin: 109P/Swift-Tuttle Zenithal Hourly Rate (ZHR): 100 (The number of meteors a single observer would see in an hour of peak activity with a clear, dark sky and the radiant at the zenith). The Perseid Meteor Shower is caused by Earth passing through debris — bits of ice and rock — left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle which last passed close to Earth in 1992. The Perseids peak when Earth passes through the densest and dustiest area on Aug. 11-12. Years without moonlight see higher rates of meteors per hour, and in outburst years (such as in 2016) the rate can be between 150-200 meteors an hour.
Gateway Trails Hikes
We will be hiking this together on Friday morning. Generally considered an easy route, the Entrada Trail is about 5 miles and takes an average of 2 hours to complete. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
Horseback Riding at Palisade Ranch
Palisade Ranch offers a variety of horseback activities for our guests. You can explore our trails through unique landscapes and enjoy beautiful scenic views as you ride among the wildlife, or learn basic horsemanship skills with our knowledgeable wranglers. For a little challenge, try your hand at a cowboy obstacle course. Pony rides for kids under the age of 8 are available as well!

Dolores River
We are organizing a day experience by the river on Thursday, August 10th. More info on the schedule page! You can also visit and relax by the river anytime you like as it's only a 5 minute walk from the resort.
Lawn games
Cornhole - Bocce Ball - Volley Ball - Spike Ball - Frisbee We will be setting up a whole array on Sunday afternoon but they are also available throughout the weekend.
Hiking - Juanita Arch
Not for the faint of heart as there is a river crossing involved! 4.8 miles (5 hours).
