We met in the Port Charlotte mall when we were twelve years old. A mutual friend introduced us before we spent the day skating, eating Subway cookies, and taking photos in the infamous photo booth. We were acquaintances before we began dating in 8th and 9th grade. We dated for a year before going our separate ways. We periodically checked in with each other over the next 14 years before we met again. From the first day, we knew, and the rest was history.
I took Mariah on a spontaneous day around town while anxiously tucking her engagement ring under my shirt. I had mentioned a day or so before that retaking photos in that same photo booth from the day we met 17 years ago would be cool. She loved the idea. I had been tossing around a few ideas for proposing, but once I saw her eagerness to return to that photo booth and remember the moment, I knew it was a perfect time to make a new one. As we got inside the booth, and I nervously rehearsed the moment, a security guard aggressively ripped the privacy blinds open. He had thought we were kids sneaking away for romance, and in essence, we were. After we both politely told him to f*** off, we decided to take some photos. I popped out the ring and asked the question while our images were being captured in that same booth from years before. It couldn't have been a more memorable moment for us. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you! See you in the mountains, bitches!
