Robyn and Rick met as most couples do these days… online. Robyn was discouraged about love and completely over the dating scene, but knew her true love was out there… somewhere. Rick kept an open mind about dating and knew the right person was around the corner. Rick spotted Robyn online at the end of December 2019 and reached out to her first. He was very witty responding to her profile and they began to chat and eventually set up a date for the beginning of January 2020. Robyn canceled that date for work reasons. Rick was quick to reschedule, making sure she didn’t slip through his fingers. Again, Robyn’s frame of mind wasn’t centered on dating, but she knew she needed to follow through on this date. A new date, January 9th is set! They met at the Fox & Hounds, a local pub in Studio City. Rick got there first and was sitting at a table when Robyn arrived. She took one look at him and instantly felt a sense of warmth and the feeling of home come over her. They had a couple drinks, few appetizers and witnessed some terrible karaoke. He walked her to her car and asked to see her again and for the first time in a really long time, she was genuinely excited! Two months past and they were seeing each other often and really enjoying each other’s company. Then March, 2020 hits… Cue a World Pandemic! At that point, they were told to shut down their lives and quarantine for just two weeks. Rick took a look at Robyn and said, “This is what we are going to do, you’re going to stay with me. We will get a bunch of food and we will get through this together.” At that moment Robyn knew she found her person. As you know, those two weeks in March 2020 turned into months of quarantine…. and those two weeks Robyn was supposed to stay with Rick, turned into a permanent situation. They realized it wasn’t the most conventional way to start a relationship, but they fell deeply in love and felt if they could get through a world pandemic together, they could get through anything!

Throughout Robyn and Rick’s love story, they talked about marriage, they wanted it, but didn’t set any timeline. They were just happy and in love— trying not to get Covid. At some point in the middle of 2021, Robyn was on Instagram and saw a very beautiful ring. Being a jewelry designer herself, she could really appreciate nice jewelry. Casually, she showed Rick, thinking nothing of it. He also appreciated cool designs. Cut to November 13th, 2021. Surprise, still in a pandemic and Rick and Robyn hadn’t done much traveling. They had an overnight stay planned for mid November to go to one of Rick’s favorite conventions, DesignerCon in Anaheim, CA. They had a great time and were excited to get away. They had a lovely steak dinner and walked back to their hotel. They get back to their room and Robyn goes into her suitcase to get ready for bed. Next thing she knows Rick starts to say, “ I have meaning to ask you this for awhile and didn’t know how or when…” Robyn immediately thinks he’s going to break up with her, because she’s ridiculous, so she gets nervous. Next thing she knows, Rick walks up to her, reaches into his pocket and takes out a box. He gets on one knee and asks her to spend the rest of her life with him. Robyn takes one look at that ring and it’s the ring she loved from months ago! Rick had been thinking about proposing for quite a while, but you can imagine how intimidating that would be to propose to a Jewelry Designer??!! So as soon as he’d seen that she liked a ring, he took note and he purchased it. He guessed her ring size perfectly! It was meant to be! Completely in shock, Robyn starts to uncontrollably laugh and asking him if he’s serious, and says as many OMG’s she can get in. Rick nervously awaits Robyn’s response since her saying YES was superseded by her disbelief about the whole thing… so he quietly asked, “ So, is that a yes?” Robyn immediately got out of her own head and screamed, “ YESSSS!!!” The rest is history!
