FAQsFAQs

The Wedding Website of Robyn Luna and Grant Purdy
We are so grateful for each and every one of you that are considering or are preparing to join our special day this November in beautiful Playa del Carmen. This FAQ page is a work in progress. We will continue adding more information based on any questions and feedback we receive as we get closer to the wedding date. If you have questions other than what we have answered here or require any further clarification, please reach out to our travel coordinator Keana Sellars (keana@loveatfirsttravel.com or 403-973-5683) for travel related inquiries and/or call, text or email Robyn or Grant for anything else!
Question

Why is the suggested RSVP date (February 13) so soon? Why is the suggested RSVP date (February 13) so soon?

Answer

February 13th is the deadline to book as part of the group travel package with an upfront $250 deposit and the remaining balance due late August.

Question

What if we miss the deadline or aren't able to RSVP that soon? What if we miss the deadline or aren't able to RSVP that soon?

Answer

Please contact us, we would still love to have you and will do our best to accommodate you. The deposit deadline allows us to hold a group rate and a set number of rooms at the resort. Current group rates are valid for bookings up to the deposit deadline. Past this date it will be necessary to re-confirm pricing and availability for each guest at the time and guests would need to pay the full amount at the time of booking. It is expected to be a better deal to book at the current rates which we were locked in late last year. Travel pricing is dynamic and can fluctuate, although usually prices increase as availability becomes more limited.

Question

Can I book outside the group? Can I book outside the group?

Answer

You are welcome to explore other options and book independently. Our group travel booking is intended to help keep travel simple and coordinated for everyone. We have locked in a group rate and deferred payment arrangement. With Keana as our travel coordinator we have a dedicated point of contact to hopefully make the process of getting to, from and set up at the Fives as smooth and stress-free as possible. Depending on overall participation and number of guests per airport there may be additional perks to enjoy, though these aren’t guaranteed and will be confirmed closer to the travel date.

Question

Travelling from outside of Canada/North America - should we book through your travel coordinator?Travelling from outside of Canada/North America - should we book through your travel coordinator?

Answer

We would still encourage you to contact our travel coordinator Keana for further information and options! She is willing to assist guests travelling from any location. If you are booking your own flights she can offer you hotel-only group rates for different room types, which may be different from what you are seeing online. We know this won't work for everyone, but another option is to fly to Canada first and book with our Canadian group rates. In Keana's experience, spending some time in Canada on either side of the trip can be a great option for guests travelling from places like Australia where direct flights to Mexico may be limited or very expensive. It can help with jet lag, give you an opportunity to visit other Canadian friends and family and make the journey more manageable.

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Your presence is the present! We just want to celebrate with you and do not have a traditional registry or expect any gifts.

Question

Will there be other events besides the ceremony and reception? Will there be other events besides the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Yes! We are considering a group excursion such as a catamaran and snorkeling trip and there will be a group welcome dinner at one of the resort’s international restaurants. Further details will be added on the “schedule” page and communicated to guests with as much notice as possible once we have our guest count and are in the detailed planning phase with the resort a few months before the wedding.

Question

What activities are available at the resort? Is it family friendly? What activities are available at the resort? Is it family friendly?

Answer

The resort is family friendly and offers plenty of options to keep us entertained! There are 7 outdoor pools (including swim-up bars and an adults-only pool), a white sand beach, snorkeling, tennis and basketball courts, beach volleyball, beach yoga, fitness and other classes and workshops, massages and various spa services, and kids (4-12) and teen clubs. See our "things to do" page which has more info and links for further reading.

Question

Can we stay at a different hotel? Can we stay at a different hotel?

Answer

We would love to have everyone stay at The Fives with us, if possible, to make the most out of the experience and enjoy spending time together. The Fives also has a maximum number of offsite guests allowed as a percentage of total wedding guests and will charge an additional fee for each off-site guest. This reduces our flexibility somewhat but seems to be standard for all inclusives in the area. It would be appreciated if you could please contact us directly if you are planning to stay at a different hotel. This will help us plan accordingly and ensure we stay onside the resort’s requirements.
