How it all came about...

Nick and Ally’s story didn’t unfold in the ways they once thought it might.

They’d assumed they’d meet someone special through work, mutual friends, or maybe a chance encounter at a coffee shop. Instead, like many modern couples, they connected through a dating app: Hinge. Both approached online dating with a fair amount of skepticism. After a few disappointing experiences, they weren’t willing to settle for anything less than genuine. Their high standards made the idea of finding a real connection both exciting and a little daunting. When they matched on September 6th, their conversation quickly turned to playful banter and silly puns. Right from the start, there was something different about their connection. Nick suggested they meet in person, and Ally, always proactive, set a time and date. Nick didn’t hesitate to say yes. Their first date was a mix of excitement and nerves, but the moment they started talking, everything felt natural. Ally took the lead in the conversation, but Nick matched her energy, and they both found it surprisingly easy to share stories and laugh together. Hours passed before they realized the restaurant was closing. By the end of the night, Nick asked if Ally would meet him again, and she said yes. That evening wasn’t just a casual date—it marked the beginning of something truly special. Fast forward to a warm summer night in Washington, D.C., when Nick decided to propose. The day hadn’t gone as smoothly as Ally might have hoped. Her feet hurt, the air was humid, and she wasn’t exactly thrilled when Nick insisted they visit the Lincoln Memorial. But once they arrived, the view—lit up against the night sky—was stunning. As Ally stood there, taking it all in, Nick suddenly turned to her with a serious look. Before she could ask what was wrong, he dropped to one knee. Her reaction was anything but traditional. Instead of a sweet “Yes” or a teary “Oh my god,” Ally blurted out, “What the fuck?” And then she said it again. And again. Nick stayed there, holding the ring, looking both nervous and amused, while Ally cycled through shock and disbelief. Eventually, the reality of the moment hit her. Tears started to fall, and through them, she finally managed to say, “Yes!” Nick laughed, relieved and charmed, teasing that he thought she might never stop swearing. It was chaotic and imperfect, but it was entirely them. A moment as unique and memorable as the relationship they had built.
