As many of you know, there are two sides of this infamous story but we can agree on the major details. I knew about Nick on campus because his friend Brandon would always bother me in class about him. He would always ask me when I was going to give his boy a chance even though he knew I was in a relationship at the time. Nick, had seen me during one of my campus groups programs and as he says, "told Cole he would come out the game for me". Our paths never truly passed until we both participated in a college fashion show. Even so, it wasn't until one night during finals week that the universe aligned everything for us. With the influence of some friends it was that night that Nick put on his southern charm & refused to allow me to walk home alone. We stood at a bus stop that was on the way to my dorm room & spoke for hours that night. At that bus stop was where we shared our first kiss that night & where Nick would later ask me to be his girlfriend. Years later, we can say we left albany with diplomas and a love that will transcend time.
On the weekend of our seventh anniversary he was surprising me with a trip I knew nothing about. The night before our flight he insisted we went out for drinks to kick off the weekend. Nick took me to a Harry Potter themed bar, which little did I know, was just the beginning. He had gotten us tickets to an immersive museum in SOHO called the Color Factory. In one of the rooms called the balloon room was where my life would change for the better. He started to tell me the sweetest speech about his love for me & then started to get down on one knee. I began to tell him "No stop, what are you doing" because I completely thought he was joking since when is Nick ever serious! Once I realized he had a ring box in his hand & he wasn't getting up, tears started streaming down my face. I said YES & the whole staff congratulated us on our engagement!! In the morning we went to the airport, keep in mind...I still did not know where we were flying to! After going through security, I finally realized we were flying to Charlotte! While boarding the plane and looking for my seat I got the 3rd surprise. My mom popped up out of her seat & surprised me on the plane (cue the tears again!). Once we arrived in Charlotte I went through such an emotional rollercoaster due to more of Nick's surprises. My fiancé had surprised me one by one with my aunt from California, my best friend and maid of honor, and my other best friend and bridesmaid all within the same day at different times! To top everything off Nick, his mom, and my mother and aunt had put together the most beautiful surprise engagement party the next day with so many of our closest family and friends! It was easily the best weekend of my life! We are so excited to be surrounded by so much love and share our special day with you! See you in Charlotte!
