How We Met

Yes, a literal lightning strike.

During a bad thunderstorm in June of 2018, Robin came home from work to find that a tree had fallen on her neighbor's car. Naturally, Robin jumped into action, taking a Snapchat with the caption "lol sucks" and going upstairs to eat leftover spaghetti. Meanwhile, Robin's roommate had noticed the commotion, and offered the neighbor her tarp to prevent rain from getting into the car. That neighbor turned out to be Jacob, who followed Robin's roommate upstairs to borrow the tarp and found Robin stuffing her face. We'd like to say it was love at first sight, but it was really just kinda awkward. A week later, Jacob returned the tarp along with a thank you case of beer and his number. Being new to the area and knowing no one besides her roommate, Robin decided to text him. It took a while for us to actually hang out, but once we did, we became best friends. However, we almost always hung out in groups or with Robin's roommate. After a few months, in October, Robin's roommate was out of town for the weekend and Jacob oh-so-casually asked Robin to go to the barcade. Alone. Definitely not a date, right? As the night progressed, Robin kicked Jacob's ass in skeeball, Jacob destroyed Robin in the racing simulator, and we both realized we had a hopeless crush on each other. After a moment of denial, we decided to dive into it. Dating your neighbor, what could go wrong? Turns out, nothing. We're so glad that lightning took down that one tree in our old apartment complex that day. Thanks for having a poorly designed parking lot, Eastwood Village!
