We met in the summer of 2011. Dylan had just completed Marine Basic training and I had just finished my first year of college at Centenary. We didn't have a lot of time together before Dylan headed off to MOS school in Virginia and I began my sophomore year. We went our separate ways, but I have always held a spot in my heart for him, and I felt deep down that he must feel the same way about me. Eleven years down the line we reconnected, both of us having married and then separated with pending divorces. It was like seeing an old friend and meeting someone new at the same time. Those feelings were still there, and still burning. I heard him refer to me as "the one that got away", and I melted. Our divorces finalized, and we decided to give things another go. The changes in our lives in the previous ten years made for new and exciting challenges. I became a parent and Dylan started a new career in the US Army, and we have learned a lot about ourselves in that time. It is exciting and rewarding to get to know the people we have each become, and to get to know each other again. Dylan proposed on a hot but beautiful Sunday in July of 2023. His being active in the Army means that he is stationed wherever he is told to go, and right now his duty station is almost ten hours' drive from where I currently live, with the next one being about sixteen hours from me. We are getting married rather quickly, in the hope of joining our lives sooner rather than later. We hope you will join us for our special day, and share in the love that overflows from our engagement- and soon from our marriage as well.
