They met at Kent State University, while Derek was assistant teaching and Kelsey had just moved all the way from Pennsylvania. Even though it was never the goal, and it was never the plan…they found each other spending time laughing, growing and missing each other during any time apart. Falling in love was an accident, but they are certainly glad it happened for them when it did.

After going to KODA camp for almost 14 years, and after loving Derek for 6 years, Derek, Alycia (MOH), Kelsey’s future bridesmaids and lifelong childhood friends came together to plan the surprise of a lifetime! Derek managed to drive 5 hours, get down on one knee and propose in front of more than 60 people - 90% of which were campers who screamed the whole time (they were VERY excited!). Kelsey wasn’t as dolled up as she maybe wanted to be, but it was perfect for the plot.
