Audubon House & Tropical Gardens
Audubon House & Tropical Gardens was built between 1849 – 1849 by Captain John Huling Geiger, a harbor pilot. The residence served as one of Key West’s grandest homes to the Geiger family for over 100 years, reflecting their high status in the community. The lush gardens and tropical plants on the property were illustrated by John James Audubon in his famous life-size book “The Birds of America”.
