Where is the wedding taking place?

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

You can arrive to the National Aviary as early as 5:30 PM and you'll enjoy some nice live music! The ceremony starts at 6:00 PM.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Cocktail Attire (i.e. cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, button-up shirts, long flowy dresses, jackets/slacks, or whatever brings you joy)

Can I bring a date?

Refer to the RSVP! Reach out to us directly if there are any questions-- we need an accurate head count.

Can we explore the aviary exhibits?

Answer

Yes! Feel free to roam around during cocktail hour (6:30 - 7:30PM) however they do not allow food/drinks in the exhibits.

Can I pet the penguin?

Answer

A penguin will be making a special appearance during cocktail hours. He has a strict no touching policy, however, refer to the handler's instructions!

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

There is a room block available at the Comfort Inn--Please see the "Travel" section for more information. You can also search other local hotels or Airbnbs. There is a Pittsburgh Steelers football game on the day of the wedding so please book in advance!

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

A shuttle will run from the Comfort Inn & Suites to the National Aviary. If you stay at a different hotel then they may be able to provide transportation but please inquire directly with your hotel.

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Parking will be free at the National Aviary.

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes, there will be a major conference in town as well as a Steelers football game on 09/22/24 at 1:00 PM.

What weather should I expect?

Answer

We cannot guarantee anything, but according to trusted weather sites: Mostly sunny with a high of 79 with sunset at 7:16PM

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors in the Rose Garden of the National Aviary. It will be moved indoors by the venue staff if there is rain. Cocktail hour and the reception will be indoors. There will be a terrace and quick outdoor access if needed.

What should I expect after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony, the immediate family of the couple and bridal party will take pictures in the park next door. Feel free to head inside the venue and enjoy cocktail hour and the aviary exhibits!

Are the ceremony and reception location wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes! The National Aviary is wheelchair accessible.

I can’t attend the wedding in person. Will there be a virtual wedding celebration?

Answer

As of right now, we do not have a plan in place to live stream the event :( We will update this page if that changes!

What type of food and drink will be served during the cocktail hour and reception?

Answer

We’ll be serving light snacks and drinks during cocktail hour, followed by a delicious buffet-style dinner at 7:30PM.

Yes, there will be an open bar.

Are you registered? Where should we ship your gift?

Answer

Unfortunately, we are not registered anywhere in particular. We do not ask for any gifts, however, if you feel you must buy us something then feel free to contribute to our honeymoon fund located above.

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

Answer

We love photos! We do ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony, we’d like that time to be unplugged. For the rest of the wedding, we encourage guests to post pictures using our wedding hashtag #ASRTWedding. We will also have a QR code at each table to which you can upload any pictures you take!
