We're getting married!

We met in December 2018 through a serendipity of algorithms and swipes (aka Tinder), and had our first date at The Shakespeare in midtown, where we managed to snag a table through the crowd of finance bros, and talked for 4 rounds of whiskey, a scotch egg, and who knows what else. For our second-ish date, Robert had casually invited Ruthie to stop by Queens Craft Brigade, his maker's market in Astoria just a few days later. Ruthie was a little worried about seeming over-eager, but after consulting with wedding-party member Mary Kate Burke, she decided to go for it, and thus began a long and expensive habit of buying Queens Craft Brigade earrings. Our third date was almost a bust because Ruthie got sick, but Robert showed up at her apartment with four different juices, cookies, and lots of other questionable remedies. Needless to say, they worked. He continued the seduction with the promise of free museum visits, and survived being thrown in the positively abyssal deep end of Ruthie's birthday party less than a month after they met. A couple months later, Ruthie survived the New Jersey friend gauntlet (impressive given that it involved axe-throwing and an artery-clogging trip to Hot Grill). Since then, our lives have been intertwined through lots of highs (e.g. Moby Dick pilgrimage to coastal MA, cooking elaborate meals in our tiny kitchen) and lows (e.g. long distance relationship between Greenpoint and East Harlem, the fridge that opened the wrong way in that tiny kitchen), victories (in backgammon) and defeats (in backgammon), and all through that time our relationship was always there to get us through it. We survived the pandemic together (so far). We even made it through a mortgage signing without an emotional scar! But will we survive a wedding we booked for four months after getting engaged?
