Our "How We Met" story is a pretty typical one these days; we technically met on Bumble. However Bobby had initially thought Morgan was uninterested because Morgan doesn't answer her phone on a consistent basis. However, after chance encounters in the triage line at North Shore Manhasset and at Croxley's in Rockville Centre 4 months later, Bobby decided to "slide" into her DMs and ask her out.
Anyone who knows Morgan knows that she is always up for a good laugh. A first date off of Bumble needs to answer a few questions; Are you who you say you are, do we actually have anything to talk about, and is it worth meeting up for a second date? Morgan decided to do the safe thing and bring two friends along with her. They would go inside, ask to have us sat near them, and make sure everything went smoothly. If there wasn't a second date, at least it would be good for a funny story. Both cars arrived at the same time and Morgan's two friends went inside to get into position. Now anyone who knows Bobby knows that he is very observant, careful, and punctual. Bobby had arrived approximately 10 minutes early and was waiting in the parking lot. He saw both cars pull up together, saw Morgan's two friends go inside, saw Morgan get out of the other car, and saw the eye contact she made with her friends who were peering over the top of their menus as Bobby and Morgan were being seated right next to them. They enjoyed milkshakes and cups of coffee talking about their careers in EMS, their time in their respective volunteer fire departments, and all the usual first date conversations, all while Morgan was trying to contain her laughter from her two friends eavesdropping the whole time. The date ended and Bobby walked her out to her car. He shook her hand and was about to walk away but decided to plant one on 'er. They went their separate ways and Morgan decided that there would be a second date if he asked. Bobby though...had one final test. He texted her and said, "Hey, just a quick question, those two girls sitting in the booth next to us...those were your friends, right?" Morgan, thinking her plan had backfired and that Bobby now thought she was a crazy person, decided to come clean and tell Bobby the truth. However, Bobby admired their plan to ensure Morgan's safety and they still laugh about it to this day. The rest, as they say, is history.
For this story, we need a little background info. A few months before the engagement, Bobby graduated from his paramedic course. Bobby has said for a long time that he has always wanted to have someone throw him a surprise party just to see if he could figure it all out. Morgan thought this would be her chance. She arranged for all of his friends and family to be at the Albertson Firehouse after work one day and enlisted the help of one of the Albertson members to get him to the firehouse to throw the surprise. However, a stray email, suspicious texting habits, and poor timing allowed Bobby to figure out that the surprise was coming. After he figured it out, he knew he needed to do one better. After asking Morgan's parents for their blessing, Bobby and Morgan's mother agreed that she would host family and friends back at her house once the deed was done. When the day finally came, Morgan decided that morning was the perfect time to get her nails done. She returned home to take a shower and put on make-up and by the time Bobby showed up Morgan's mom was silently screaming "GET HER OUT OF MY HOUSE SO I CAN GET EVERYTHING READY!!!" When they finally arrived at the Waterdrinker Farm, it was already too late to really explore everything so it was time to get down to business. Bobby got down on one knee and asked Morgan to marry him. Tears flowed and hugs and kisses were exchanged. Morgan called her mom and she demanded they get back to the house to celebrate. During the drive home, Morgan called nearly every member of both families to tell them the good news, not knowing that they were already awaiting their arrival back at the house. When they pulled up around the corner, Morgan spotted the car of an out of town cousin and asked Bobby, "Is that Jessie's car?" Bobby smirked and said, "THAT is how you do a surprise party!"
