Yes, absolutely yes! You do not need a visa for Mexico but a valid passport is required. For important information about obtaining a passport, please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html Please plan ahead as passport processing times are currently at 8-12 weeks.
Please book as soon as possible! February and March is high season in Zihuatanejo and the flights will be full. There are non-stop flights from most major cities but usually from one airline only. For guests coming from other cities, there are connections through Mexico City as well. Please let us know if you need help finding flights, we are more than happy to help you book!
Fly into Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH). Please let us know if you need help booking travel. Visit the TRAVEL link on our website for more information about flights.
While we adore your children, our wedding venue and other activities do not have the room for your little ones. Please make it a "mom and dad's getaway weekend" :)
No. The taxi to get from the airport to Zihuatanejo is $40 per local regulation. Once in Zihuatanejo, taxis are abundant and a taxi ride from any part of the village to the next will cost about $4 USD.
We will be providing transportation to your accommodation upon arrival to Zihuatanejo. Please provide us your flight and accommodation itinerary as soon as possible. Taxis are abundant and inexpensive for all other transportation that is needed.
It's always a good idea to carry some local currency. The best way to get the most competitive exchange rate is to use an ATM of a local bank upon arrival. Most hotels and restaurants take major credit cards. You WILL need pesos for taxis, tips, meals not provided by us, and anything else you might want to buy. Don't forget to call your bank to let them know you are traveling abroad. Tip: The exchange rate general rule is 1 dollar equals 20 pesos.
Zihuatanejo offers many options for accommodations to fit all budgets. We recommend staying anywhere around the Zihuatanejo Bay to be close to all the wedding festivities. Please see the TRAVEL tab for more information and recommendations. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Enjoy year-round good weather and many activities like snorkeling, jet skiing, kayaking, fishing, diving, biking, hiking, horseback riding, other water sports and of course eating! As a functioning fishing village, Zihuatanejo offers fresh seafood and traditional Mexican cuisine. Check out the THINGS TO DO tab for more details about how you can spend your vacation.
A google search about the safety of Mexico can always lead to some uncertainty. Despite Zihuatanejo being in the Guerrero state, which is known for having a high crime rate and violence, the city still has kept it's little town safe. As the town is frequented by many tourists every year, Zihua has managed to keep violence and crime at bay from their town. During our visit early this year we had zero issues with safety. But as a general rule of thumb when traveling anywhere, it's a good idea not to bring lots of valuables and of course be aware of your surroundings.
We understand that this is a big cost for people will do our best to make this trip easy and affordable for everyone. The biggest cost will be the flights, so again please book early to get the best deal. The rest of the trip is flexible depending on where you stay and what you would like to do. We found the town to be super affordable - think nice meals for $20 (for 2 people), $2 beers/$4 mixed drinks, $3-5 taxi rides, and many cheap or free activities.
