This question we get a lot. We are getting married on Monday October 7th because that was the day we had our first date. We wanted to start our new anniversary on the day that has meant so much to us the past 7 years.

Will the leaves be changing colors?

Answer

Colors transform above 5,000 feet elevation. The leaves in the highest mountains north of Asheville turn first, especially on the Parkway at Mount Mitchell and near Grandfather Mountain at Rough Ridge. Mile-high Beech Mountain is a great place to stay for refreshing temperatures. South on the Parkway, head to Graveyard Fields, Waterrock Knob and Black Balsam areas. Hike & picnic atop both Max Patch and Roan Mountain on the AT. Many high elevation leaves are browning & falling due to this year's warmth.
