We met as reporters at KION-TV in Salinas, California. We developed a friendship over several months... Eventually, we went our separate ways for new jobs - Robert went to San Diego. Luis went to Fresno. We would take turns making the long, often foggy five-and-a-half hour drive to visit each other every other weekend. We had so much fun exploring beautiful San Diego and getting to know each other more. That's when we agreed to become each other's first boyfriends. Twenty four years later, we agreed to make it "officially legal."
