Our Love Story

First comes school, then comes marriage...

We met in one of the most unexpected—and yet, somehow perfect—places: The Evangaline Booth College where we both were pursuing full-time ministry. It was a season full of early mornings, prayers, purpose, and a whole lot of excitement. Neither of us knew that tucked in between classes and ministry would be the beginning of something life-changing. One of our earliest adventures together was a trip to Stone Mountain. I still remember looking over at him, noticing his beard, and casually telling him he made the right choice growing it out. (You’re welcome, future wedding photos.) The Moment Everything Shifted By September 2024, he already had an eye on me—quietly, respectfully, and very patiently. The second he learned I was single, though? Oh, he wasted zero time. He told me how he felt with the courage and sincerity that I would soon learn is just part of who he is. I, on the other hand… was caught so off guard that I blurted out, “We’re FRIENDS!” Loudly. Too loudly. And yet, somehow, he still pursued me relentlessly with kindness, clarity, and that signature smile that never seems to disappear. Our First Date A month later, curiosity—and maybe a little divine nudging—brought us to our first official date. We wandered through bookstores, tested skincare like two people who had no business being that excited about moisturizers, and ended the evening with hibachi. He also helped me prepare for my upcoming deployment to assist in a disaster response, showing me early on that he wasn’t just interested—he was invested. Encouraging, helpful, full of joy… that’s him. And together, we’re known as “the joyful ones,” two people trying our best to love the Lord and love others with everything we are. How We Fell in Love There wasn’t one big moment. No movie scene. No dramatic swelling soundtrack.
It was gradual—steady—holy. We recognized qualities in each other that we had prayed for: a genuine love for Christ, kindness, bravery, a heart that refuses to tolerate injustice, and a shared adventurous spirit. Piece by piece, day by day, love quietly unfolded. The Proposal On May 3rd, right before my graduation, he planned a proposal that could melt anyone’s heart. He arranged for my close family to be waiting at the park. I thought it was just a normal outing… until I saw them—and then saw him dropping to one knee. I said yes. Of course I said yes. And suddenly the world felt brighter. Long Distance, Same Mission Now we’re in the season of waiting and growing, living long distance while serving in two different ministries. We’re sharing the love of Jesus in different places, trusting that every mile between us is preparing us for June 11, 2026—our wedding day. Two Cultures, One Future
