How We Met

June 2011

We met on the Catholic School girl motorcycle poker run. I rode with a mutual friend of ours Chad and Robert was with another group of friends. I reached out the following week about some pictures he had taken in hopes I could get a few. We talked for a little over a month before making lunch plans... it all grew from there... 8 years later here we are!

Proposal

April 2017

It was a beautiful Spring day in Grand Lake, Colorado. I (Jana) rented a little cabin along the river that runs into Grand Lake so we could go fishing for the weekend. We headed up to Grand Lake early afternoon, taking our time to enjoy the drive and the beauty that Colorado has to offer. Once we reached Grand Lake we checked into the cabin and went and grabbed an afternoon bite and drink before setting up to go "fishing" I don't fish.. I sit and relax with a cold beverage in my hand and bask in the sun! A month earlier I had a custom fishing lure made that was engraved with "You are the greatest catch of my life" on the other side it said "Will you Marry me?" The Lure came in a little tin that was engraved "Forever my Always" I even did a little backwards "tradition" and asked for permission. Once all set up and a little time had past I presented Robert with the fishing lure. No I didn't get down on one knee! I gave him a spiel about fisherman having superstitions and good luck charms, that the lure was intended to be his good luck charm. The side he could see was the side that said "You are the greatest catch of my life" I finally had to tell him to flip it over! Where of course it asked the big question. After what seemed like several moments of silence he asks "yeah?" Mind you he is wearing sunglasses so I really could not see his facial expression. So my response was, "yes, well unless you don't want to!" and again what seemed like forever he finally said, "yes!"
