We met online through a Dungeons and Dragons Discord server called Across Worlds. After spending about a year occasionally chatting and getting to know each other as friends, a late-night chance encounter changed everything. We spent the entire night talking, then the night after that, and again and again. Frankly, we both lost count of all the hours we poured into each other. It was very clear early on it was the real deal. Everything was simple. The way conversations flowed, the mutual understanding we both had for each other and all the boxes you look for in a healthy relationship were continually checked. It all felt surreal and still does. Everything feels right, like home. Isabel made the trip to Oregon soon after, and everything we felt through a screen was confirmed and magnified in person. We became inseparable.
After a day of great food and sightseeing along Highway 101 on the Oregon Coast, we trekked up one of the paths with a cliff-side view of the ocean at Ecola State Park. After waiting for people to clear off the path, Rob led Isabel further up, and with only the sound of nature and waves got down on one knee and proposed.
