On April 27th, the shuttle will run from Aptos to the venue before the ceremony and back to Aptos after the reception and dinner. Departure and drop off locations are at the Sea Cliff Inn in Aptos (7500 Old Dominion Court). It is about a 30 minute trip. Departure times (Sea Cliff Inn, Saturday April 27th): 2:15pm 3:15pm Departure times (Gallery Meadow, Pema Osel Ling, April 27th): 8:45pm 10:15pm
VERY IMPORTANT: If travelling from the SF Bay Area, Google Maps will route you along a "short cut" exiting off of Highway 17 onto Summit Road. This road is narrow and in poor condition. While apparently passable, it is not recommended, particularly for those with larger vehicles such as campervans. A STRONGLY PREFERRED option is to set the navigation for Aptos, then from Aptos navigate to Pema Osel Ling via Eureka Canyon Rd. This adds about 30 minutes to the trip.
Current forecast is that, while rain is unlikely Friday evening and Saturday, it will likely be chilly, particularly in the evenings. Daytime high in the mid to low 60s falling to the low 50s by the end of the reception. Plan on typical northern California style with lots of layers. The reception and ceremony are all outdoors. We will have heaters and blankets available for anyone getting chilly.
We don't have anything scheduled for Saturday morning, planning to give people time to relax, enjoy the venue, or get out to explore the area. We will have coffee and pastries at 9am and a light bruch at 11am on the deck outside the Orchard House. For those willing and able to help, there will definitely be things to do for setting up the ceremony site and reception areas.
For Saturday, anything between cocktail, semi-formal to dressy casual is great. Suits or sports coats for men, cocktail dresses or similar for ladies. (And remember, layers!) No particular dress code for Friday evening and Sunday brunch.
Cell reception at the venue is very poor and the wifi service is very limited. Plan on little to no connectivity while at Pema Osel Ling
No. We kind of have all the stuff we need and don't have room for more. Besides, your presence at our celebration means way more to us than stuff you can buy us. If you still feel compelled to spend money on us, here are a few possibilities: - Buy a camera. Use it to take lots of pictures at the wedding. Send us the pictures -- and keep the camera! - Donate to the following charities: Berkeley Humane; GiveDirectly
Parking is plentiful at the Amphitheater of the Redwoods if you want to drive up. We'll also have shuttles running between Aptos and the Amphitheater of the Redwoods on Saturday so you won't have to drive through windy roads in the dead of night. Uber and Lyft cars are plentiful to get you between Aptos and any hotel you'd be staying at.
Absolutely! Kids are welcome at all events over the weekend.
