Visa: Most non-East Africans need a visa to enter Uganda. We recommend ordering these online through Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit System online before arrival. It is a straightforward process and takes 2-3 days to receive your visa. Note if you are travelling in Kenya and Rwanda, you may be eligible for the East African Tourist Visa or require other country visas. Please check if you also need to order these online in advance. Vaccinations: The only required vaccination for entry into Uganda is Yellow Fever. You must present a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate upon arrival. All other vaccinations, such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and others, are recommended but not mandatory.
Although it is not an absolute requirement, CDC recommends that travelers going to Uganda take prescription medicine to prevent malaria. Depending on the medicine you take, you may need to start taking this medicine a few days before your trip, as well as during and after your trip. We recommend bringing trousers and/or a scarf to wear in the evenings.
Please note that plus ones are only permitted for those events where it has been explicitly stated in the RSVP on our website. Thank you for your understanding.
Unfortunately, we regret that we are not able to provide childcare facilities for children during the wedding, so only named guests are invited. Exceptions will be made for the immediate nieces and nephews of the bride and grown and babies who are still exclusively reliant on their parents.
Roaming on European or US networks in Uganda/East Africa is extremely expensive. On arrival, you should purchase a SIM Card and data bundle with either MTN or Airtel. This can be done at Entebbe Airport on arrival and only takes 5 minutes.
Bolt or Uber work fine in Kampala. If you have multiple trips to do in a day, you may find it easier to negotiate with a driver to stay with you for a few hours or a day. Our local taxi contact, Sula Semuyaba, +256701531791, can help connect you to a full day taxi.
In July, Kampala experiences mild and pleasant weather, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F). On particularly hot days it can reach 32°C in the middle of the day. July is part of the dry season, so there's less rainfall, however there can be unpredictable and very strong tropical rainstorms at any time, so it's best to be prepared. We recommend you bring one warmer jacket, a waterproof jacket or umbrella, swimwear and a couple of different footwear options.

Your presence at our wedding is the most important gift to us. We understand that many of our friends and loved ones are traveling internationally, and we do not expect or require any gifts—your time with us is truly enough. For those who are unable to attend or those who have inquired about a registry, we’ve kept one privately, and we are happy to share it upon request. Please know that we feel incredibly fortunate to have your support, and we don’t expect anything beyond your good wishes. We will run the traditional process for local/regional guests and family members.
We've tried to include as much detail as possible on our wedding website. However, if you have any questions, our incredible wedding planner, Liza, will have dedicated support to answer your questions on the day of the event. We’ll provide additional support information in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
The local currency in Uganda is the Ugandan Shilling (UGX). While credit cards are accepted at major hotels and restaurants, it’s best to have some local currency for smaller purchases, tips, and local markets. We recommend either exchanging money at the airport or using ATMs upon arrival, as it’s often the most convenient option to start your trip. ATMs are widely available in urban areas, and you’ll generally get a good exchange rate. We’ll share more tips as the wedding day approaches! If you’re staying in Uganda for more than a week, we recommend setting up mobile money when you buy your local SIM card (for example, with MTN). The phone agent will handle the setup for you, and it shouldn’t add much time to the process. Mobile money allows you to send, receive, and store money using your phone, even without a bank account. It’s widely used and a popular way to pay businesses and individuals, especially if you prefer not to carry cash.
Uganda is one of the most linguistically diverse countries in the world. While English is the official language, there are over 40 local languages spoken across the country. Luganda is widely spoken in the central region, including, Kampala, but you should generally be fine getting around in English. As for customs, Ugandans are known for being warm and friendly. It’s common to greet people with a handshake and take a moment to ask how someone is doing—it’s seen as polite and respectful. Your tour guides will share more information if you're traveling through the region or across the country.
We'd love for you to share your photos with us! There will be a QR code on the wedding day and a section on our website where you can upload your pictures. Feel free to share as many moments as you capture. As for a wedding hashtag… well, since Rob isn’t on social media, good luck getting him to approve one! But don’t worry—we’ve got the photo-sharing covered without needing a hashtag.
