How We Met

July 2018

Growing up about an hour apart we always knew who each other were, but that was about it. It took us both traveling 300 miles to Bozeman, MT for our paths to cross. With the help of mutual friends we ended up on the same ranch rodeo team. After 2 rounds of rodeo we turned in for the night at my apartment, where I made him sleep on the floor with the dogs. By the second day our friends had decided that we were the perfect couple. I was tired and grumpy and my horses were being delinquents, I'm really not sure what he saw in me. After Bozeman both of our lives were very busy, but mutual interests pushed us to become great friends. I was working on applying for vet school and Robert was working on building his own herd. We stayed in touch and saw each other when we could.

Finally Official

March 19, 2019

March 19, 2019 is when we decided to take the next step and become an official couple. Robert was accomplishing his goals with a growing herd of momma cows and I had accepted an offer at Washington State University Veterinary School. This meant four more years of school. While the distance was difficult and we spent lots of miles on the road we made it work. When school went remote I was able to be home for about a year. We spent a lot of this time together. From feeding cows to attending weddings we made the most of every minute. It is amazing how distance makes you appreciate the small things.

The Proposal

July 30, 2021

After having spent the day with my arm in the wrong side of cows and Robert got to ride the entire day (I really need to reevaluate designated jobs) we were putting horses up for the night. Per usual Robert was trying to claim that my horses liked him better and he better just take them home. Him stealing my horses turned into asking if I could live on the Haxby for the rest of my life. Of course I said yes! But there is one condition, my horses are still my horses, and his are mine too.
