Our Story

[Anna] I came to know of Rob's existence through every grandmother's favorite social media platform: Facebook. After chatting about Casablanca and his journeys through South America, we met in person at the U.S. Botanic Garden and then wandered over to one of my most nostalgic places, Union Station. I thought Rob was the most handsome dude I'd ever met, but with long distance between us, I was determined to keep things casual and friendly. After several more excursions and deeper conversations, I came to see Rob's jovial personality, generosity toward others, and unwavering commitment to the Christian faith as patterns to follow in my own life. Rob has been one of the biggest supporters of my own journey with Christ, and because of him, I even managed to finish reading the entire Bible! After four months of friend-zoning him, I finally gave in and said "yes" when Rob asked to be together. 18 months of dating, many short hikes, window-shopping excursions, and game nights later, Rob proposed in the backyard under the moonlight with popcorn while we were reading The Screwtape Letters together. [Rob] We met in the most uncool possible way, via Facebook Dating. After our first date at the US Botanic Garden, we couldn't stop thinking about each other, but Anna didn't want a long distance relationship. Fortunately, I was persistent; we started officially dating in April '24 after many "silly questions of the day" and immediately introduced each other to all our friends and family. She made a good impression on me immediately by being direct, honest, compassionate, supportive, and open to new experiences. I knew I couldn't let her get away! Since we could only see each other on weekends, we went on plenty of late night jaunts, and I dragged her to as many parties as she could stomach. Anna gamely attempted to learn my hobbies and we made happy memories of reading the Bible and watching anime together. In return, I got to introduce her to my luxurious middle class lifestyle with towels and end tables and throw pillows. Within 6 months I had a ring in the closet "just in case", but with Anna caring for her sick mother, all life plans were put on hold. Our romantic getaway / tourist weekend in New York was a definite highlight. We finally got engaged in October '25, while watching the sunset and eating popcorn in the back yard. (I strategically left a ring on the mantel so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.) Over the past year we've only grown closer and we're excited to take the next step! Our favorite activities to do together are hiking, window shopping, and game night. We unironically have matching pajamas and coffee mugs.
