Some love stories begin with chance encounters, and ours just so happened to begin at McFaddens after a Pittsburgh Pirates game. We had both gone to the game with friends and then headed to McFaddens afterward. With the bar being completely empty (since it was only 7 p.m.), Bobby and his friends spotted two pretty blondes sitting at the end of the bar. After some hesitation, they finally worked up the courage to take a seat next to them. Conversation sparked, and the rest was history. The very next day, during the legendary Backyard Brawl, Bobby decided to make the first move and reached out to Amanda. While she cheered on WVU and he rooted for Pitt, they were able to look past their teams rivalry. The following week, Bobby asked Amanda to go to a Pitt game for their first date—unknowingly fulfilling something she had been wanting to do ever since moving to Pittsburgh. It felt extra special when he asked, because she had always wanted to go but never had the chance. With Bobby being in graduate school at Pitt, he thought it would be the perfect first date. That day, they tailgated with friends and family, and Amanda recalls everyone telling her “how great of a guy he was.” At first, she thought they were just hyping him up to impress her, but she soon realized it was true—Bobby genuinely was as amazing as everyone said. From that day forward, weekends were spent on dates, going to concerts, sporting events, and discovering great places to eat. Their spark was undeniable, and as time went on, their relationship only grew stronger, filled with countless memories, laughs, and a love they had never known before. We have grown together from celebrating victories to navigating challenges, to sharing quiet nights in and exciting adventures out, we’ve built a relationship that reflects who we are: strong, loyal, compassionate, and always there for each other. Much like the teams we cheer for, loyalty has been at the heart of our story. No matter what comes our way, we’ve learned that when we have each other, we already have everything we need. Now, as we prepare for our greatest adventure yet—marriage—we couldn’t be more grateful for the journey that brought us here.
