A shared love of music is what brought us together. We are both lifelong musicians whose best memories of our respective high school years are playing in the band, marching band in particular. We first met in 2018 when Rebecca joined the Stone Soup Symphony, where Rob had already been playing for 20 years. When the orchestra went on hiatus during the COVID pandemic, we didn’t see each other for over a year, but reconnected in the spring of 2021 when things happily started up again. Little by little, we got to know each other better at post-rehearsal get-togethers and post-concert meals, and something just clicked. We started texting each other and talking on the phone a lot, and by November of that year, we went on our first date to, fittingly enough, a concert. We both knew that night that something special was taking shape, and we’ve been together ever since. After 4 years together, Rob pulled off a surprise for the ages, proposing to Rebecca at the end of our annual Christmas concert, surrounded by our beloved Stone Soup family and a few members of our actual families, not to mention a hundred or so people watching the live stream! It was an absolutely unforgettable moment, and it made an already joyful season even more magical. It was incredibly special to come full circle and get engaged where our love story first began.
