Our story began on Sydney's very first day working in the Neuro ICU at MUSC in Charleston. As fate would have it, Zach walked into Sydney's patient's room, just as she was starting an IV. With an easy smile, he offered to help, thinking it might be her first one; Sydney was quick to laugh and assure him it was her third, so no help was needed... Over the next few months, Zach and Sydney would often find themselves working together whenever Zach would rotate onto night shift. During one of those nights, a coworker mischievously mentioned to Sydney that Zach "had a thing" for her- something Zach had never actually confessed himself.... Time passed and our unit Christmas party came- the night Zach and Sydney spent the entire evening talking and laughing together, it was then that phone numbers were exchanged to continue on conversation. That New Years, Zach met up with Sydney and some of her girlfriends, and from that point on, they became inseparable. A year later, during Christmas of 2024, Zach gave Sydney the most thoughtful gift- the promise to adopt a dog together. Soon after, they rescued a spunky Huskey Golden mix from Columbia, SC, and later named him Nalu. On August 30th, 2025, Zach planned the most perfect surprise. One that comprised of a date night turning into an unforgettable evening- a sunset sailboat cruise through the marshes of Folly Beach, where he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
