It was a dark and stormy night… Hmm, sorry, that’s the beginning of a thriller. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Nope, it was indeed the best of times. The worst of times definitely doesn’t apply here. Ah, here we go… A tale as old as time, true as it can be… No, I’m not trying to compare us to Beauty and the Beast, I’m just trying to get that song stuck in your head. Admit it, Angela Lansbury is in your head. Now to the story of Us….. 9 years and 7 days ago, Robb was sad. He was on his way back to DC after a long Memorial Day weekend staying with his friends in Rehoboth Beach. It was Monday morning. It had been a rainy and dreary weekend and the sun was finally shining. As he drove, he was struck by a force compelling him to turn around. Robb would later say he had decided that he wanted to enjoy an afternoon on the beach. He couldn’t imagine that that simple act would change his life forever (for better or worse)! Rick woke up that same morning. Sadly, he woke up with a headache due to changing barometric pressure (hangover). He tried to go to the beach but the sun hurt his eyes (hangover). As the sun went down, Rick gathered his strength to go find his credit card which had been left behind at a bar a few nights earlier. He had no idea that this simple act, deciding to retake possession of his credit card that evening, would change his life forever (for the better). Around 8pm, Robb arrived at Aqua for one last cocktail with his friend Rob. Rick had arrived at that same bar a few minutes earlier with friends as well. They met. Rick was smitten at first sight thinking "he’s so out of my league…I’m gonna blow this…I’m gonna say something really stupid and blow this chance”. He proceeded to say something stupid…he told Robb that he would never work in, live in or date anyone from DC. That's when Rick learned Robb lived in DC. Four months later Rick moved to DC. Moral of the story, Rick says stupid things and Robb forgives him.
