I was late for a flight. He had just changed his seat to the front row of a small plane. We wound up next to each other on a small plane from Detroit to Fort Wayne. He was from LA. I was from Atlanta. Neither of us were looking for a relationship. I don't like to fly and was reading a People magazine to distract myself from my fear. He mentally judged me for that magazine choice - thinking to himself- great! I don't have to talk with anyone; she's obviously not that smart. I read his mind and said out loud "don't judge me for reading this; I don't like to fly and it's the only way I can distract myself - mindlessly flipping pages of a silly magazine. We then proceeded to talk incessantly for the next 38 minutes of a short flight. He likes to say I interviewed him. (I do like to ask a lot of questions) We exchanged facebook info....and the rest was history! We dated long distance for the next 18 months, he moved to Atlanta, and we started our journey together. Like any relationship, it hasn't been without difficulty, change, growth, and a whole lot of love. We are grateful for the journey we have taken. We are even more grateful for the love and support of our family and friends as our love has grown. Here we are over seven years later - excited to commit to a lifetime of partnership and love.

I went to Japan in the fall of 2018 - I woke up early one morning to a text message with a picture of a ring. Followed by another text. Shit. That wasn't for you. I seriously had no idea what that was about. We had talked about getting married. We had also talked about just being together forever - who needs all the legal stuff? Little did I know he had meant to send that text to his kids - getting their opinion on the ring. I just thought maybe he is just thinking about it. I then promptly went on with our ridiculously busy lives and forgot about it. We had all the grown up kids and Robb's mom at the house for Christmas that year. We always play a "gift game" that is a number drawing, pick a gift, exchange a gift with someone else kind of thing. They had it all rigged so that the last gift would wind up as mine. As I sat there in my Santa apron on the couch, I had no idea everyone was secretly videotaping what would be me opening the box with a shocked look and an "are you serious?" comment. I was in shock because Robb can't keep a secret - EVER. He had certainly surprised me. We had every intention of planning a wedding for 2019, but just couldn't get it together. So here we are in 2020 - set to have the adventure of a lifetime in Italy with a group of very special people!

One thing I can say about us as a couple - we thoroughly enjoy each other's company. We love to travel together, create things together, cook together, talk to each other, and just be in the same house together doing our own thing. We also love to find a balance -Lisa loves being alone or with her badass girlfriends or running long distances or closing herself in a room to read or write. Robb loves to paint and read and go for long walks. We both live a life focused on gratitude, love, and creativity. Together we have seven kids (!) that are the other loves of our lives. We feel extremely grateful that we genuinely love each other's kids and we have so much fun when we are all together. Emily, Zach, Wilson, Jordan, Lauren, Corrie, and Josiah and our dog Bella complete our circle of love.
