Wendi and Rob’s connection was an instant one. But as any good gardener will tell you: to grow a beautiful garden requires a few mishaps, some unpredictabilities, and maybe a pest or two. The moment of instant connection happened at an art show in 2015 when Wendi was admiring Rob’s artwork. Once the seed was planted, their friendship slowly grew and evolved. By the summer of 2018 the two were spending more and more time together. Wendi knew she liked Rob as more than a friend, but his naturally laidback demeanor made her think he didn’t feel the same. Spoiler: He did. ( Clearly, the more-than-average number of times he visited her at work to buy teas he never drank wasn’t enough of a hint.). Wendi had plans to move to Berkeley, CA at the end of that summer. Knowing she was leaving, Rob kept quiet about his true feelings. But as they laid on the beach Rob couldn’t help himself. He told Wendi he loved her. She realized she loved him too. What began as a friendship blossomed into a deep love. Despite that special night, Wendi kept her plans to go to California. Rob wasn’t quite ready to let her move so far away. Two weeks into her drive, he hopped on a plane and met her in Seattle. As they spent the next week driving down the coast towards California, they both realized that being together was the only thing that would make them happy. So, just like a garden can be unexpectedly rearranged by nature, Wendi and Rob’s vision for their future was unexpectedly rearranged. They decided to return to Martha’s Vineyard.together. The thing about an unexpected garden: sometimes mother nature knows best. Wendi and Rob knew they were soulmates. On February, 2nd, 2020, during a stay on Isla Morada, all the signs were right and the stars aligned. They eloped that night. overlooking the water, reading their handwritten vows to one another. They can’t wait to see family and loved ones when the time is right, and celebrate together, a love that will continue to flourish each day.
