Our story began the day we decided to download the app. I didn’t expect anything to come of it, but sometimes you can call it fate, destiny, or just the universe at work, because we found each other. He says I liked one of his pictures, and I said "Hey." Honestly, I don’t even remember that part lol, but somehow, we matched and started chatting. Two days later, we met at a fancy Portuguese restaurant called Lisbon Cafe near my old place. He showed up wearing an MTV t-shirt (I know, right?!), and I remember thinking, "No lo sé, Ernesto" – I wasn’t sure at that point. Still, we kept texting every day. We went on a few more dates, and after Thanksgiving, we attended a birthday party. When someone asked if we were a couple, we just said yes. Later, he asked me, “¿Quieres ser mi novia?” and from that moment on, we were inseparable. A month after we met, I introduced him to my family, and I spent Christmas with his family. Looking back, everything was moving so fast, but it just felt right. We’ve had so many adventures together, from trips to new places to unforgettable moments with our families. Even though we’ve had hard conversations, tough times, or moments that weren’t so happy, one thing is certain: we love each other a lot, and we always find a way to make things work. We’ve learned to grow together through every up and down, and I wouldn’t change a thing. We moved in together after 7 months of dating. Grandma welcomed us into her home when I really needed it, and I will always be thankful for that. Her love and warmth made everything feel right. We miss her every day – there’s a quiet space in our hearts where she used to be, and I still laugh sometimes thinking about her making her little comments, as if she was still here. It’s funny, though, how life works. An app brought us together, but the love we built together brought us to this place. Now, after 2 years, I can honestly say how happy I am that we’re married, about to celebrate with our loved ones. And even though she’s not physically here to share it with us, we feel her love in every step of this journey. It’s a reminder that love doesn’t just grow; it continues, even in the spaces we can’t see.
