Katey and Rob had their first date at a Pittsburgh Penguin playoff game where they shared meatballs for dinner, chatted about school and work then came to realize they both loved boating and traveling. After the game they weren't ready for the date to end so they got cheesecake for dessert at the Marriott across the street to wait for traffic to die down. Deciding to jump right in, the next weekend they booked a flight to Myrtle Beach for their first trip together for a long weekend (a safe bet for Katey since both of her sisters live there) and without wasting anymore time planned a trip to Costa Rica. It's been said that "If you have someone you think is the one, take them and travel around the world. Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel, all over the world, to places that are hard to reach and hard to get out of. And when you land, if you're still in love with that person, get married." Well....they survived that trip, they boated with friends that whole first summer together and the rest is history.

After a 5 day ski trip to Copper Mountain in Colorado, Rob claimed a little relaxation was needed and told Katey they were going to Maui with their good friends Brandon and Lauren for a few days. Little did Katey know that Rob had big plans once they landed on the island! He had the custom ring he designed with him the entire time. After what was thought to be a photoshoot on the beach for Lauren, Brandon suggested that Katey and Rob take a couple pictures as well. While Katey was getting instructions on the beach from the photographer she turned around and found Rob down on one knee!! She almost couldn't believe it--of course her answer was YES. More pictures were taken to capture the moment. After the pictures both couples went to Merriman's Maui, a beautiful ocean and cliffside restaurant right on Kapalua Beach where they continued to celebrate.

If you know anything about Rob and I you know that we both love warm weather, being outside and traveling. Since we've been together we've taken multiple weekend trips to the Florida Keys which quickly became one of our favorite places to visit. Once we started wedding planning we knew there wasn't a better place for us to get married and celebrate with our friends and family. We decided to have our wedding on a Friday with the idea that people will be coming to the Keys for a long weekend getaway! With a wedding on Friday our family and friends will have all day Saturday to do whatever they please before returning home! Whether it is relaxing by a pool (& recovering from the wedding), scuba diving or venturing on a drive to Islamorada or Key West we hope you take advantage of the warm weather before returning to the Pittsburgh area!
