It was December 2011 and the holiday season was in full swing. Rob and his roommate Drew wanted to spread the Christmas cheer by hosting a Santacon party in their New York City apartment. Drew was dating a friend of Cara's sister so Lauren and Cara were invited to attend. For those unaware, Santacon is a Christmas bar crawl where you're encouraged to dress in theme. Lauren went as a candy cane and Cara dressed as a reindeer, while Rob dressed as Santa. Upon arrival, Cara noticed Rob almost immediately. He was tending to homemade apple cider on the stove, adding fresh cinnamon sticks - she was impressed. They didn't talk much at the apartment but went to a nearby bar later on where they begin talking. After hours of hanging out the night ended with a kiss. Sadly, that is where this romance takes a long pause of 4 years. They continued on separate paths for some time until Oct 2015 when Bumble (a dating app) matched them. After some small talk, Rob asked Cara if she would like to meet for drinks and dinner. On October 16th they had their first date at Fedora in the West Village where they had the best time and went dancing afterwards. Rob even told Cara he loved her that night (after a few drinks)! Quickly Rob and Cara started hanging out multiple times a week watching football games, eating their way through the West Village, and cooking together at home. Rob then planned a vacation to Capri, Italy where he popped the question and the rest is history!
