Rent a kayak at the City Dock in Eagle Harbor, in our main town, Winslow and tour the harbor. If you're interested, we recommend that you book in advance and reserve a kayak.
There are many miles of really beautiful walks in the woods of the Grand Forest (and at Hilltop, a meadow where a dairy farm once operated, some views of the Olympic Mountains). We can give you guidance on various recommended walks.
The Bloedel Reserve is 150 acres of mature gardens and varied natural landscapes connected by beautiful paths. They require reservations and timed passes to limit the number of people. A really tranquil, gorgeous place on the site of an old estate. Self-guided tours take around 90 minutes -- the main loop is three miles.
The place to go if you want a serious yoga class.
A traditional health club (recently purchased by the Parks District) with an outdoor pool and more casual classes. Really airy facilities.
A small commercial area with pleasant outdoor eateries, and near some nice waterfront access points we can tell you about.
There are now seven wineries on the Island. We recommend Amelia Wynn and Eleven. Both have tasting rooms on Winslow Way -- our main street -- in Winslow. On our wedding day, we will be serving four varieties of Amelia Wynn wines. Eleven also has a tasting room on Day Road, north of town, and generally has live music at that location on weekend afternoons in the summer.
A good local brewery. We will be serving their beer following the wedding.
Poulsbo is a town just off the Island that used to be a fishing village and a center of Nordic life. It is a pretty drive -- take the left onto Lemolo Shore Drive off Route 305 for a waterfront road with great views of the Olympic mountains and bay. Take a left to Front Street, old Poulsbo, with shops and a waterfront park and trail.
We have lots of other ideas -- just ask us!
