Our Story

Ashley and Robert’s love story began in a small town, nestled in the southeast corner of Louisiana. They were both high school kids, working at the local Winn Dixie to make some extra cash. Robert, with his shy demeanor and gentle heart, caught Ashley's attention from the moment they met. Always the quiet one with a mischievous spark in his eye, Robert couldn’t resist her spunky attitude and playfulness. Their connection was instant. During lunch breaks, they would share stories of their lives, dreams, and hopes for the future. They spent long hours after school scanning and bagging groceries and laughing together, slowly building a bond that felt more like fate than coincidence. Despite the usual teenage drama and distractions, there was always something steady about their connection. They were in love. But life, as it always does, threw a curveball their way. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina ravaged St. Bernard Parish, changing everything. The destruction was overwhelming, and their families were forced to rebuild. With few options in the aftermath, Ashley’s family decided to relocate to Kansas. The pain of the separation was heavy, and despite promises to stay in touch, the distance between them created a quiet rift. They tried to make it work for a while, but eventually, their relationship faded as they both moved forward with their lives—Ashley raising three kids in Kansas, and Robert staying in Louisiana, navigating his own path. Years passed. Ashley and Robert lived separate lives, each with their own challenges and triumphs. Ashley found happiness in her children, raising them with love; while Robert focused on his career and personal growth. There were always moments of longing for the love they had once shared; but they both knew they were living different lives in different worlds. Then, in May of 2021, the unexpected happened. Robert reached out. It had been years since they had last spoken, but a feeling stirred inside him, one he couldn’t ignore. He remembered Ashley—the girl who had been his world. Ashley, too, had thought of Robert often. She had moved on, but she could never let go of the memories they shared. Their first conversation was filled with nostalgia, laughter, and a hint of something deeper, something that had never quite left. Slowly but surely, they began talking more often, reconnecting in a way neither of them expected. The years apart had changed them; but the spark between them was undeniable. After late-night calls and rekindling the connection they once had, Ashley and Robert decided to meet again, this time as adults, shaped by life’s experiences. When they saw each other for the first time after all those years, the emotions were overwhelming. It was like no time had passed at all. They spent the next few weeks rediscovering each other. Ashley found herself laughing at Robert’s jokes just like they used to, and Robert was reminded of the woman Ashley had become—strong, wise, and full of grace. It was clear to both of them that what they had was not something you could easily walk away from. Just a short time later, they both knew they were ready for a second chance. Ashley, now older and wiser, embraced the love she had once thought was lost. Robert, who had spent years wondering “what if,” now knew that they were meant to be. They started a new chapter of their love story, one that was more mature, grounded in mutual respect and understanding. Ashley's kids embraced Robert with open arms, and Robert, in turn, accepted the beautiful, messy life that came with them. Though the years had taken them down different paths, they were finally back where they belonged—together. Their love story isn’t perfect, but it was theirs. It was built on the foundation of youth, shaped by the hardships they’d each endured, and rekindled by the unbreakable bond that time could never erase. On Christmas Eve 2024, Robert proposed to Ashley and she said yes. And now, the story continues...
