We first met in the resident work room where Alicia, a new second year, thought that Rob, a fresh, friendly face, was a new intern. He was working diligently to write notes and put in orders, and Alicia offered what she thought was sage advice. Moments after we parted, Alicia realized Rob was actually the new pancreas and gallbladder surgery fellow, i.e., 4 YEARS her senior in training. Luckily, we both thought highly of the other after that initial encounter. A few months later, we were both assisting on a liver transplant that neither of us were originally supposed to be in. It started at 10pm on a Saturday night and we had a fantastic time. We parted ways at 7am on Sunday morning and didn't see or talk to each other for a few months... Until Alicia started as one of the residents on Rob’s service in February of 2018. We operated together once, for about an hour, on Alicia’s first day of service. But we continued to talk, and wait for each other in clinic, and text after work for the remainder of time on service. And then we kept texting. And then we met for drinks at The Butcher and the Brewer. And then, one day while we were sitting next to each other, Rob looked at Alicia, took her hand in his, and planted a kiss on it. And the rest, as they say, is history. Rob proposed at home on December 28, 2018 and we started to plan the rest of our lives together. We're so happy that you'll be a part of it and we look forward to many happy years together and with you all.
