After over four years of dating, we will take it back to the beginning. We both attended the same high school, but never talked. I was a grade above RJ and always thought he was way too cool for me. He was always dating the prettiest girls in school and did not think we would have much in common. We both played sports, but he was more dedicated to football and I was passionate about soccer. We both agreed there was little interest in high school. It was football that ended up bringing us back together. We both ended up at a high school football game after graduating to watch friends and family. My mother embarrassingly invited him and his friends to come sit by her to share her blanket and umbrella as they were underdressed and underprepared for a cold and rainy game. He talked to a lot of my family that night, all except me. For the first time, I decided to be bold after the game and messaged him. Lucky for me, he thought I was cute enough to hang out with the next day. I visited him at Franklin College where he attended at the time. We went on to talk and get to know each other for hours. This then lead to him proudly showing me his high school football highlights and I knew I was impressed. Who would've thought that high school football would be the thing that brought us together!
RJ's family had been planning a trip to Greece for a few years and invited me to go. We went with his aunts and got to invite our closest friends. We had taken many trips together before, but this would be our first international trip together. I had jokingly mentioned a few times over the months before the trip that it would be cool to get engaged in Greece. I held out hope that my dream might actually come true. Once we actually left for the trip, I had lost all hope due to the fact that we hardly looked at rings and he never really talked about plans. Little did I know, this would actually become a dream. Sunday, May 8th, we were walking the ruins of Methoni and we came across the Methoni Castle. I thought it was a cute place to take pictures with the water in the background. RJ thought it was a cute place to propose. As his family and our friends were taking pictures of us, he pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee to propose. I quickly said "no" just out of pure shock that this was happening, but even more quickly turned it around to say YES! So now I get to be the princess of the Methoni Castle and we get to live happily ever after!
