In 2020, Kaitlyn started working at Hobby Lobby part time while she finished school. RJ had been working there for a bit when she started, at the time he was a department head and backup bookkeeper. She was a cashier. They ended up on break together many a time coincidently and got to know one another. One afternoon, Kaitlyn was going to attend her brother's lacrosse game, but her mom was busy so she had no one to go with. She looked at the work schedule and asked RJ if he was doing anything after work. He said no and when she asked about the game, he agreed to go with her. They had a lot of fun and got food together too. At the time, Kaitlyn was just interested in friendship with RJ. But after more hanging out, watching all the Harry Potter films together, her feelings grew. She asked him to be her boyfriend a month later. They've been together over 4 years now, growing together and now they're excited for the next step as a married couple!

Kaitlyn went out with a friend downtown that night. She came home, not suspecting a thing. RJ asked, "Would you like to take a nice bath? I could get it set up for you." Kaitlyn agreed. Earlier that week, RJ had tried out making a bath bomb for the first time. He put the bath bomb in the bath and as it fizzled away in the water, Kaitlyn noticed a plastic ball holding a ring. It was a decoy ring, but a ring nonetheless. "What's this?" she said. Then all of a sudden, RJ is getting down on one knee asking Kaitlyn to marry him with the real ring!
