USA to Mexico: Travelers to Mexico are required to present a completed health questionnaire to immigration upon arrival. Your airline should send you the form when you check into your flight. It can also be done at the airport. Mexico back to the USA: CDC guidelines require all air travelers entering the U.S. to present proof of recovery from COVID-19, or a negative PCR or antigen viral test (taken no more than 1 day before departure), before boarding their flight—or they will be denied boarding. Testing in Mexico is simple and fast. Laboratory result can be in printed or electronic form. Receipt of the vaccine does not currently provide an exemption. The Beach Tulum Hotel and Cabanas Tulum both provide in house testing for about $75. Selina Tulum does not provide testing at their hotel. There are tons of places right on the beach that do testing for $35 and your test results are delivered to your email within about 30 min.

In Tulum you can pay with Pesos or Dollars – A lot of places also accept credit cards but you will need cash for i.e. taxis. If you wish to withdraw money, we recommend using the ATMs in town as their fees are a lot less than the ATMs on the beach strip. HSBC and CI Banco in downtown Tulum are the best. If you bring USD, we recommend changing them to pesos in the “casa de cambio” in downtown Tulum. *Make sure to call your credit card company prior to any international travel so you do not get locked out of your card
Yes! Taxi are safe and plentiful in Tulum. Just make sure you check the price before you get in. The taxis here do not use meters and the drivers will try to earn a bit extra when driving with tourists. If you think the price is a bit too high, just say no thank you and check with the next one. Taxis charge a bit more at night time. All of our recommended hotels can arrange taxi service for you to just about anywhere/anytime you wish!
No. We recommend bottled water only. Most hotels provide bottled water and have filtered water in the lobbies to fill up with! **Ice cubes are made with filtered water only and produce is thoroughly washed with filtered water as well.
Cell phone reception is very spotty along the hotel strip in Tulum but almost all hotels and restaurants offer free WiFi. We highly recommend you download the app, WhatsApp, while you're in Tulum to easily text with friends and family within Tulum. Many of the hotels use WhatsApp to communicate with their guests as well. (i.e. easily order a margarita to your beach bed using WhatsApp!)
No. There are no all inclusive resorts in the hotel zone in Tulum. Many of the all inclusive resorts that are marketed as being in "Tulum" are actually a very lengthy drive away, especially with traffic on the beach road. Tulum is specifically known for it's authentic boutique hotel scene.
Yes! If you can't find a place that suits you from the recommendations provided on the travel page, reach out to our concierge via email at reservation@destinationweddingstulum.com. All they need to know is: Price range, town or beach, dates and how many people.
Depending on traffic, the drive from Tulum town to the beach zone is about 10-20 minutes. The beach road is one way in and one way out, so if traffic is backed up, if can be slightly longer. Depending on the time of day, taxis are about $8-$15 (one way). Establish the taxi price BEFORE getting into the car.
The 3 recommended hotels are all within walking distance to the venue. It is a nice 10 minute walk along the beach or the road (or a 2 minute cab drive).
A rental car is not necessary if you're planning to stay around Tulum or on the beach. We recommend a scooter, bike or your own 2 feet for that. However, if you plan on exploring the town, traveling to cenotes or want to head out to Chichen Itza or Coba, a rental car is the best way to do that! We rented a car from the Hertz at the Cancun airport and kept it parked at the hotel until we decided to use it. To rent a car, it was about $200 for 4 days with full insurance and unlimited mileage. Taxis can be pricey and group tours are NOT our scene.. so the rental was well worth it in our opinion! Driving on the beach road in Tulum is a bit crowded, but driving anywhere else in Mexico is a breeze.
