Two hearts. One promise.

Our love story began in a college Biology class, where we both were instantly intrigued to learn more about each other. Alyssa found herself gravitating next to Steven, the quiet but charming guy who always seemed to have an answer for every question. Soon Steven would, as some would say, "slide into Alyssa's DMs" to schedule a study date. Alyssa agreed and went in serious to show what she knew. Little did Steven know, Alyssa had no clue what was going on in the class. The first dates were filled with awkward silences, as we were both a little shy, but we cherished every moment spent together. We could sit in silence for hours and it would still feel so full, good and necessary. Despite our initial fears and uncertainties about taking the next steps, we both grew emotionally and realized that what we had was more than we ever imagined. As years went on, everything fell into place and everything started to make sense. We truly believe that God answers prayers. We are each other's answered prayers. ~ Nuestra historia de amor comenzó en una clase de Biología en la universidad, donde ambos sentimos una curiosidad inmediata por conocernos mejor. Alyssa se sintió atraída por Steven, el chico tranquilo pero encantador que siempre parecía tener una respuesta para cada pregunta. Pronto, Steven, como dirían algunos, "se colaba en los mensajes directos de Alyssa" para programar una cita para estudiar. Alyssa aceptó y se puso seria para demostrar lo que sabía. Steven no se imaginaba que Alyssa no tenía ni idea de lo que estaba pasando en la clase. Las primeras citas estuvieron llenas de silencios incómodos, ya que ambos éramos un poco tímidos, pero atesoramos cada momento que pasábamos juntos. Podíamos sentarnos en silencio durante horas y aún así nos sentíamos tan plenos, bien y necesarios. A pesar de nuestros miedos e incertidumbres iniciales sobre cómo dar el siguiente paso, ambos crecimos emocionalmente y nos dimos cuenta de que lo que teníamos era más de lo que jamás imaginamos. Con el paso de los años, todo encajó y todo empezó a tener sentido. Creemos firmemente que Dios responde a las oraciones. Somos las oraciones contestadas del otro.

The proposal completely caught Alyssa by surprise. She admits she thought it would've happened the following year. However, it definitely was a long time coming but had been on Steven's mind for quite some time. It all started by Steven planning a date to go see a beautiful garden in Yonkers followed by a day trip to NYC under the guise of celebrating their 7 year anniversary. Steven was able to remain stoic trying to quickly adapt to small hiccups that led to the proposal moment, such as, it beginning to downpour when they arrived, or the photographer running a few minutes late and especially having to switch the proposal spot to avoid a crowded area. When no one was around that is when Steven made his move and got down on one knee in the center of a beautiful large stone gazebo. It was Alyssa's easiest yes! After, they spent the day celebrating in the city, just the two of them, in their happy bubble. Steven ended the night with a planned dinner with both of their families but with one last surprise. He was able to have Alyssa's mom fly in from Arizona to surprise her at dinner! It truly meant a lot to Alyssa and it was the perfect ending to the perfect day. ~ La propuesta de matrimonio tomó a Alyssa completamente por sorpresa. Admite que pensó que habría sucedido al año siguiente. Sin embargo, era algo que se esperaba desde hacía tiempo, pero Steven llevaba tiempo dándole vueltas a la cabeza. Todo empezó cuando Steven planeó una cita para ver un hermoso jardín en Yonkers, seguida de una excursión de un día a Nueva York con el pretexto de celebrar su séptimo aniversario. Steven logró mantenerse estoico, intentando adaptarse rápidamente a los pequeños contratiempos que llevaron al momento de la propuesta, como que empezara a llover a cántaros cuando llegaron, o que el fotógrafo llegara unos minutos tarde y, sobre todo, tener que cambiar el lugar para evitar una zona concurrida. Cuando no había nadie, Steven actuó y se arrodilló en el centro de un hermoso y gran cenador de piedra. ¡Fue el sí más fácil para Alyssa! Después, pasaron el día celebrando en la ciudad, solos los dos, en su burbuja de felicidad. Steven terminó la noche con una cena organizada con sus familias, pero con una última sorpresa. ¡Logró que la mamá de Alyssa volara desde Arizona para sorprenderla con una cena! Significó mucho para Alyssa y fue el broche de oro para un día perfecto.
