About halfway through dinner Rius got up and... you guessed it... got down on one knee! I squealed, squeezed him, and nearly fainted when I saw the gorgeous, incredibly thoughtful ring he had picked out for me. We were sitting, crying, and smiling ear to ear when our server informed us a couple nearby was inspired by the display and had paid our bill. We later learned the couple had their own engagement dinner anonymously paid for 25 years ago and had been waiting to pay it forward all that time. It was the sweetest icing on the cake. Rius then whisked me off to a romantic evening at my favorite Portland hotel where we enjoyed champagne in the jacuzzi and beamed at each other all night long.
