How We Met

From The Sand to The Moon

*Written by Joshua* I remember meeting Ashleigh for the first time in the back of our high school auditorium during a school musical while working on a project for a class. With her were her two (unknown to me at the time) best friends that I was more familiar with. We began chatting about the musical and tattoos that we had, but unknown to her, I was more enamored by her adoring brown eyes, long brown hair, and perfect smile. And that was it, the musical began and we went our separate ways. She had graduated that year and I, the year after. Just a chat with a cute girl. A year later as I was swiping left and right on a notorious app, I happened to match with a cute girl with blonde hair and glasses as her profile picture. We got to talking and after many conversations about the meaning of life and if aliens existed, we decided to hangout. As I pulled into her driveway I was met with a blue haired, awkward and shy girl with an aloe plant and she said "this is for you". After that she wouldn't look at me and barely any words were said as we drove to the beach. It was just before sundown when we arrived. The sun was about to drop below the horizon and we just started walking. No words being said, just being in each other's company. Finally I was able to come up with some dumb line that was just enough to ignite the conversations that I was used to. Just like that we walked for what felt like miles and talked about anything and everything our minds could come up with, even though she still would not look at me and made sure to hold her shoes in her hands so I wouldn't have the chance to hold them myself (as I've now come to find out). As our hangout was coming to an end and we made our way back to my car, we found baby sea turtles hatching from the sand and making their way towards the moon and water. What I believe now was their start at life was a sign that likewise was the new start of mine.
